Description
Element Accessories represents the fusion of European and Chinese expertise in design and production techniques. This series was designed by rising Chinese design talent SUNs, a former Red Dot Award winner. The goal is to popularize a new, modern Chinese style with a fresh and unique identity, "from Made in China to Designed in China." The OTARU series aesthetically combines Song Dynasty traditions (see: the shape and tiny bronze feet) with modern minimalism; technically, it combines pottery craftsmanship with factory production of specially imported, high-temperature-resistant clay; and in its finish, a mineral glaze made with natural ore, skillfully fired at 1360 degrees Celsius to achieve a natural bronze look and feel as it fades into dark clay.
More than a year of research and several specialists were needed to achieve this result, especially since the bronze-black finish was difficult to obtain.
